TeensHealth

The Nemours Foundation's Center for Children's Health Media created this site to provide teens and their families with accurate, up-to-date, and jargon-free health information they can use. KidsHealth has been on the Web since 1995 and is the largest and most visited site on the Web providing doctor-approved health information about children from before birth through adolescence. KidsHealth has been accessed by about 250,000,000 visitors. On a typical weekday, more than 350,000 people access KidsHealth's reliable information.

THT teenhealthtalk.org

This site is part of the Adolescent Wellness through Access to Resources to Education AWARE Foundation. The goal of Teen Health Talk is to provide teens with an information resource that reaches adolescents in a safe and non-threatening way. This is a non-profit organization founded by physicians that has a Board of Directors. It was chosen as part of the Philadelphia School District Health and Sex Education Curriculum in grades 9-12. Available in Spanish, and offers hotline numbers.

Just for Young Women

GirlsHealth

GirlsHealth was developed by the Office on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services to promote healthy, positive behaviors in girls between the ages of 10 and 16. Girls can find reliable, useful information on the health issues they will face as they become young women, and tips on handling relationships with family and friends, at school and at home.

YoungWomensHealth

This website, designed and maintained by the Childrens’ Hospital of Boston, offers education, advice about clinical care, information about research, and health care advocacy for teen girls and young women. The intended audience is teen girls, their parents, teachers, and health care providers who want to learn about teen girls’ normal health and development, as well as of specific diseases and conditions. The creators want to empower teen girls and young women around the world to take an active role in their own health care.

Question and Answer Websites

Go Ask Alice!

Alice! has been answering questions about teen health since 1993, and was likely the first major health Question and Answer program. It is maintained by Columbia University's Health Promotion Program — a division of Health Services at Columbia. Its features are: Q&A’s of the week that are updated every Friday; Search GAA! with a searchable archive of over 3,000 previously posted questions and answers, and Ask Alice! which gives teens the chance to ask and submit a question to Alice! Go Ask Alice! is a health Q&A Internet service. It works to provide readers with reliable, accessible, culturally competent information and a range of thoughtful perspectives so that they can make responsible decisions concerning their health and well-being.

TeenHealthFX

This project is funded by Atlantic Health System - Morristown Memorial Hospital, Overlook Hospital and Mountainside Hospital. The site is maintained with input from teenagers and support from community leaders. Atlantic's Community Health Department and the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at the Goryeb Children's Hospital are responsible for the content and operation of the site. The professional staff who answer questions from our vast audience and provide oversight include clinical social workers, health educators, adolescent medicine physicians, pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, nutritionists, and many other health professionals. The goal of TeenHealthFX is to provide you teens with an online resource for any and all of questions regarding their health, relationships, their bodies and their sexuality.

Teens Living with Cancer

TLC is a site that was inspired by a teen who fought a courageous battle with cancer. It is maintained by the National Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Children's Oncology Group. The message is on hope for a cure, and positive ways to handle a new diagnosis, treatment, after effects, and life after treatment.

Group Loop

Group Loop is an innovative and groundbreaking program of The Wellness Community (TWC) to provide online support for teens with cancer and their parents. Dr. Ernest R. Katz at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, together with Dr. Aura Kuperberg, his colleague and founder of the premier Teen Impact support program for teenagers, made sure Group Loop was designed to meet the needs of this important age group. Group Loop is a safe place online for teens with cancer.

It is part of the Teen-to-Teen Sexuality Education Project developed by Answer (formerly the Network for Family Life Education), a leading national organization dedicated to providing and promoting comprehensive sexuality education. Answer is based at the Center for Applied Psychology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

About Youth Violence

STRYVE 

STRYVE is a national initiative led by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Its purpose is to be a gateway for professionals, parents, youth and other interested individuals.  The initiative facilitates discussion with children, to resolve conflicts nonviolently, to stop bullying, to prevent teen suicide, and to end violence committed by and against young people. Resources include fact sheets, best practices documents, funding and conference announcements, statistics, research bulletins, surveillance reports, and profiles of promising programs. STRYVE takes a public health approach to preventing youth violence before it starts.

National Adolescent Health Information Center

National Adolescent Health Information Center (NAHIC) was established in 1993 with funding from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is based within the University of California, San Francisco’s Division of Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and Institute for Health Policy Studies.

The Society for Adolescent Medicine

Founded in 1968, the Society for Adolescent Medicine (SAM) is a multidisciplinary organization committed to improving the physical and psychosocial health and well-being of all adolescents through advocacy, clinical care, health promotion, health service delivery, professional development, and research.

Siecus

SIECUS is the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, and it has served as the national voice for sexuality education, sexual health, and sexual rights for over 40 years.
