Teach them to "SCREEN"
- Source - Where is this information coming from? Is this an .edu, .gov, or .com site?
- Conflict - Are there a lot of ads? Is the site trying to get you to buy something?
- Review - Has the site got any quality control? When was it last updated?
- Evidence - Who wrote the information on the site?
- Extreme - Does the site make extreme promises for a cure or easy fix?
- Not related - Are any parts of the web site unrelated, or does the site focus on the topic?
Teach them to watch out for hoaxes!
